| Jimbaran Area
Jimbaran is the
home of the Four Seasons hotel. Even if this luxurious hotel
is beyond your price range, you can still visit their beach,
their restaurant, the Ganesha Gallery, and one of Bali's
finest antique stores all located on the hotel's manicured
grounds.
Further up the
same beach are dozens of Ikan Bakar - grilled fish - stalls.
Select your fish and they will grill it right in front of
you. Try your fish with sambal matah, the delicious local
variety of hot sauce that consists of onion, garlic, chilli,
lemon grass and coconut oil. With a beer or a kelapa muda
(young green coconut drink) you can enjoy a wonderful meal
as you watch the sunset.
Just to the
north is a fishing village where hundreds of brightly
painted traditional sailing vessels called Jukung are
moored. These outrigger boats can be rented and will allow
you to sail to the outer coral reefs where Indonesia's rich
underwater life can be experienced first hand.
