| Canggu Area
Canggu is an
area that has newly been developed for tourism. Canggu is a 15
minute drive from Kuta or you can take a leisurely stroll to
Canggu along the beach up from Seminyak. Unspoiled, quiet
and far removed from the bustle of the shopping regions,
Canggu has an unique charm all its own where you can
experience the white sand beach, energetic gamelan concerts,
and exotic religious rituals. The fragrance of jasmine fills
the air at the local flower market, and in the morning the
children of the village sweep away the cempaka flowers that
have fallen to ground during the night.
At night, the
beach is alive with luminous plankton and the stars of the
southern hemisphere are sprinkled across the sky like rice
grains on black velvet. If you are lucky you might arrive
during the village temple's anniversary, which occurs every
210 days according to the Balinese lunar calendar. Wear a
traditional sarong and sash and you will be allowed to enter
the temple's sacred inner courtyard.
